To begin your journey to Lac d’Ifni, start from Agadir and head toward Taroudant – Aoulouz. Follow the N10 (National Road number 10) road until you reach the Tifnoute Valley, the entry point to Toubkal National Park. Along the way, you’ll pass by impressive dams in Aoulouz. Amsouzart, a picturesque green valley village, is an ideal starting point for camping at Lac d’Ifni. Amsouzart is approximately 190 kilometers from Marrakech and can be reached in about 5 hours by car. If traveling from Agadir, the journey takes around 4 to 5 hours on a better road.

Preparations and Amenities: Exploring Lake Ifni

Upon arriving in Amsouzart, you can securely park your vehicle before embarking on a three-hour hike to the lake. If desired, you can enjoy a meal at a local restaurant or spend the night at one of the numerous camping sites in the area. Remember that Lac d’Ifni doesn’t have good lodges; however, small cabins are available for rent at 30 dirhams per night. If you prefer camping, these cabins can serve as a shelter in case of rain or strong winds.

While there are no restaurants at Lac d’Ifni, you’ll find small food stalls that can prepare basic meals or serve tea. These options are relatively expensive and are primarily suited for those passing through the lake without staying overnight. It is advisable to bring your own camping stove and food supplies. Please note that making a wood fire is not an option as firewood is not readily available in the area.

When venturing on a camping trip to the breathtaking Lake Ifni, you must equip yourself with the essential camping gear. Pack a waterproof tent to shield you from unexpected rain showers, a comfortable mattress to ensure a good night’s sleep, and a warm sleeping bag to keep you cozy during cool nights.
